ISLAMABAD, December 28 (TNF): Pakistan has reaffirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Yemen, as tensions continue to rise in the conflict-hit country. The statement came from Pakistan’s Foreign Office amid renewed regional and international focus on preventing further escalation in Yemen’s fragile political and security environment.
In an official statement released late on Friday, the Foreign Office said Pakistan was closely monitoring recent developments in Yemen and welcomed diplomatic initiatives led by Saudi Arabia. According to Pakistan’s Dawn News, Islamabad described Saudi Arabia’s role as constructive and essential for achieving long-term stability in the region.
“Pakistan expresses its full support for the diplomatic efforts being undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for ensuring peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen,” the Foreign Office said. It also praised the role played by the United Arab Emirates, acknowledging Abu Dhabi’s efforts to promote security and political calm in Yemen.
The Foreign Office stressed the importance of preserving Yemen’s sovereignty. It said all stakeholders must respect the country’s unity and territorial integrity. Pakistan also urged Yemeni actors to avoid unilateral actions that could worsen tensions or derail ongoing diplomatic engagement.
According to the statement, Pakistan believes that dialogue remains the only viable path forward. The Foreign Office called on all Yemeni parties to engage constructively and in good faith toward an inclusive political settlement. It said any sustainable solution must rest on mutually agreed parameters and address the legitimate concerns of all sides involved in the conflict.
“Pakistan expresses its hope that the ongoing diplomatic efforts will result in concrete steps toward achieving lasting peace in the country and in bringing an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people,” the statement added. The Foreign Office underlined that years of instability have taken a heavy humanitarian toll on Yemen’s civilian population, making urgent political progress essential.
The statement comes at a critical moment in Yemen’s ongoing crisis. Earlier this month, Yemen’s main southern separatist group, the Southern Transitional Council, moved against the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised government. The group forced government officials out of their headquarters in Aden and claimed broad control across large parts of southern Yemen.
The latest developments have deepened concerns about fragmentation within Yemen’s political landscape. Analysts warn that internal divisions within the anti-Houthi camp could further complicate peace efforts and prolong the conflict. Pakistan’s call for restraint reflects growing regional anxiety over the risk of renewed violence.
Saudi Arabia has responded by urging Yemeni separatists to reverse recent territorial gains. According to statements issued by Riyadh, the kingdom wants to de-escalate tensions within the government camp and prevent internal conflict from undermining broader peace initiatives. Saudi officials have reiterated that dialogue remains the preferred option to resolve disputes among Yemeni factions.
Meanwhile, the UAE has publicly welcomed Saudi Arabia’s mediation role. On Friday, the Emirati foreign ministry said it supported Saudi-led efforts to maintain security and stability in Yemen. It also reaffirmed its commitment to backing initiatives that could help stabilize the country and reduce the risk of further conflict.
As reported by Pakistan’s Dawn News, Islamabad’s statement reflects its broader foreign policy approach toward the Middle East, which emphasizes diplomacy, dialogue, and respect for sovereignty. Pakistan has consistently supported negotiated political solutions to regional conflicts and has avoided direct military involvement in Yemen since the conflict began.
Observers say Pakistan’s endorsement of Saudi Arabia’s efforts also signals Islamabad’s intent to remain aligned with key Gulf partners on regional stability issues. At the same time, Pakistan continues to stress the need for inclusive political processes that prioritize the welfare of civilians and the long-term unity of conflict-affected states.
With Yemen facing renewed political uncertainty, Pakistan has urged all parties to act responsibly. It has called for restraint, compromise, and sustained diplomatic engagement to prevent further deterioration and to create conditions for lasting peace.
