ISLAMABAD, June 27 (TNF): The Supreme Court has directed that the duration of the LLB program be reduced from five years to four years across the country.
The ruling was issued during the hearing of the legal education reforms case on Wednesday, where the court also abolished the controversial C-Law test previously required for foreign law graduates. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, while delivering the verdict, stressed the importance of urgent reforms aimed at uplifting the standards of legal education. He underscored that efforts should focus on improving the quality of law colleges rather than imposing punitive measures. The court particularly addressed concerns regarding SM Law College, noting its historical significance and advising that any deficiencies be addressed rather than closing the institution. Further hearings on the case have been adjourned indefinitely, although the court indicated that judicial oversight of legal education reforms will continue.
