Deepika Padukone Becomes First Indian Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES, July 3 (TNF): Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone is set to make history as the first Indian actor to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a landmark honor announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night.

The news was shared via the Chamber’s official Instagram, unveiling the Class of 2026 inductees. Padukone will join a distinguished group that includes Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore.

Among television and entertainment honorees are The Office creator Greg Daniels, actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Bradley Whitford, and Noah Wyle, as well as chef Gordon Ramsay. The final list, selected from hundreds of nominations, received approval from the Walk of Fame’s selection panel and was ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors on June 14.

The Walk of Fame — stretching along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street — celebrates outstanding contributions to film, television, radio, music, live performance, and sports entertainment. Padukone’s star represents a milestone in the Walk’s six-decade legacy, with more than 2,700 stars awarded since its inception.

Padukone, who burst onto the scene with Om Shanti Om in 2007, has become one of Bollywood’s most respected and commercially successful actors. Known for powerful performances in Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Chhapaak, and Gehraiyaan, she has built a reputation for balancing box office appeal with meaningful, boundary-pushing roles.

Her Hollywood debut came in 2017 opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Since then, she has been a fixture at global events like the Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival, where she served on the main competition jury in 2022.

Beyond cinema, Padukone has made a global impact through mental health advocacy via her LiveLoveLaugh Foundation. She was named among TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018 and later received the TIME100 Impact Award.

Recently, Padukone made waves by publicly challenging the Oscars for their failure to recognize Indian films, further cementing her role as a champion for inclusivity in global storytelling.
