ISLAMABAD, June 27 (TNF): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a limited-time campaign to make it easier and more affordable for citizens to renew or replace their expired or lost chipless Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs). The purpose of this initiative is to encourage citizens to upgrade to modern identity cards that come with enhanced security and digital features. According to a public notice issued by NADRA, this campaign offers discounted fees for various CNIC services, including renewals, replacements for lost cards, and updates to personal information.
The revised fee structure sets the cost for normal service at Rs 400, with a processing duration of 15 working days. The urgent service is available for Rs 1,150 and will be processed within 12 working days, while the executive service costs Rs 2,150 and offers a faster processing time of 6 working days. Citizens can avail of these services by visiting any NADRA Registration Centre or by using the Pak Identity portal, which allows applicants to complete the process online and receive their upgraded ID cards at home.
Although the upgraded cards are still chipless, they feature important digital enhancements such as QR codes and bilingual data presentation in both Urdu and English. These upgrades ensure compatibility with official documents like passports and bank records. As part of the chipless CNIC upgrade program, NADRA has also introduced lifetime validity options for specific categories, including organ donors and individuals with disabilities. This initiative reflects NADRA’s commitment to providing secure and convenient identity solutions for citizens.
