CAIRO, June 28 (TNF): Egypt will host the 32nd International Quran Memorization and Interpretation Competition. The event will take place in Cairo from June 29 to July 6, 2025, according to Iqna news agency.
The Ministry of Religious Endowments announced the details. Written assessments will happen at Al-Nour Mosque in Cairo’s Abbasiya district. Contestants from different governorates will compete for top honors.
This year’s competition features eight categories. These include full Quran memorization with interpretation for lay participants. Non-Arabic speakers will also compete. Other categories are for imams, female scholars, and university academics. Children and youth will focus on memorizing the final two sections of the Quran.
There are categories for excellence in recitation and tajweed, participants with disabilities, and families with multiple members who memorize the Quran. Another category focuses on Quranic recitations (Qira’at) with the seven canonical readings.
Both men and women can participate. The ministry stressed the importance of following eligibility rules. It warned that violators will face disqualification.
Officials plan to hold more Quran-related contests in December. The event highlights Egypt’s strong commitment to promoting Quranic scholarship and memorization globally.
