Bangladesh High Commissioner Explores Academic Partnerships at COMSATS University

ISLAMABAD, June 27 (TNF): Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Pakistan, visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on Thursday to explore opportunities for enhanced academic collaboration. The envoy was accompanied by Press Counsellor Md. Tayub Ali and Deputy Director COMSATS Secretariat, Farhan Ansari, Daily Times reported.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Rector CUI, along with senior officials of the university. During the visit, the High Commissioner toured key facilities, including the Junaid Zaidi Library and the Centre of Micro and Nano Devices (CMND).

In a meeting with university leadership, the High Commissioner stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through academic and scientific partnerships. He highlighted the shared cultural and historical ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan, and noted the potential for collaboration in nanotechnology, information technology, and other advanced scientific fields.

The High Commissioner was also briefed on CUI’s internationalization efforts and scholarship programs for students from OIC member states, with particular focus on opportunities for Bangladeshi students. He appreciated the vision of COMSATS’ founder, Nobel Laureate Prof. Abdus Salam, and expressed keen interest in joint academic initiatives to foster deeper connections between the two nations.

Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar referred to the recent MoUs signed between Pakistani and Bangladeshi institutions during a high-level academic delegation’s visit facilitated by COMSTECH, reaffirming CUI’s commitment to supporting Bangladeshi students and researchers. He noted CUI’s readiness to promote faculty and student exchanges.

The visit concluded with a tour of CUI’s advanced research centers in nanotechnology, where the High Commissioner assured his full support for efforts aimed at building strong academic linkages and promoting student mobility between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
