ABU DHABI, June 28 (TNF): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements” to further enhance bilateral ties.
The agreement was reached during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, where both sides reviewed the full scope of their relations and agreed on practical steps to deepen cooperation in trade, banking, investment, and other sectors. As reported by ARY News, the state-run APP also highlighted these developments.
The session was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prior to the formal proceedings, a working group meeting of the JMC took place under Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and UAE Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.
The commission agreed on strengthening collaboration in multiple areas, including culture, aviation, railways, energy, food security, climate change, defence, healthcare, manpower, higher education, and information technology. Both parties emphasized the importance of improving institutional mechanisms and boosting inter-ministerial coordination.
The discussions, held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and brotherhood, also covered regional and global developments, reaffirming the shared commitment of Pakistan and the UAE to promoting peace and stability in the region.
In addition to the MoU on visa exemptions, both nations signed memoranda on establishing a Joint Task Force to promote investments, as well as an agreement on Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy. A protocol was also signed to define follow-up procedures, coordination through sectoral working groups, and facilitation of reciprocal visits.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the session’s outcomes and agreed to hold the 13th JMC session in Pakistan on mutually agreed dates. The successful meeting reflected the deep-rooted and multi-dimensional partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, as well as their shared vision for a dynamic, progressive relationship.
