TEHRAN, June 28 (TNF): A huge crowd filled the streets of Tehran on Saturday for a funeral ceremony. Mourners came to honor those killed in recent Israeli air strikes. The dead included senior military officers, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The procession started at Enghelab Square and moved toward Azadi Square. People from all walks of life joined, along with top officials and military commanders. Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported these details.
Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh announced the funeral. He leads the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Tehran. He called it a national tribute to the victims of the attacks. Many of the dead had already been buried in their home provinces. The Tehran ceremony included symbolic burials of several prominent figures.
The funeral came after nearly two weeks of fighting between Israel and Iran. The conflict began on June 13. Israeli forces hit Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian sites. Iran’s Health Ministry said the strikes killed at least 606 people and injured over 5,300.
Iran struck back with missiles and drones. These attacks killed at least 29 people in Israel and injured more than 3,400. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem shared these figures. The fighting stopped on June 24 after the United States brokered a ceasefire.
