Sindh Deploys 49,000 Police for Muharram Security

KARACHI, July 3 (TNF): Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has assured that comprehensive security measures are in place across the province for Muharram. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, Memon stated that the Sindh government has finalized a robust security plan to ensure peace during the holy month.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, the minister revealed that 49,662 police officers will be stationed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad between Muharram 8 and 10 — from today through Sunday — to avert any potential threats or incidents.

Memon shared that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah personally engaged with religious scholars and conducted detailed reviews of the security arrangements for both congregations and processions. Outlining the plan, Memon said 14,546 police officers will be assigned to oversee gatherings, while 35,116 will be tasked with securing processions. Additionally, over 14,000 personnel will provide supplementary security to safeguard all Muharram-related events.
